Cannon Divorce's Carey

Nick Cannon officially filed for divorce from wife Mariah Carey on December 12.

Divorce Papers Filed

TMZ reported Friday that Cannon filed divorce papers days prior to Carey’s performance at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting. Allegedly, the singer missed a pre-taping for the event because she was in the middle of working out the agreement with her lawyer.

Separated Since August

The host of “America’s Got Talen” announced the two’s separation last August, saying: “There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months. My main focus is my kids.” But he still maintains a good relationship with his ex-wife, telling “Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer that he and the singer will “always be family.” The couple was married in 2008 and share twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

Next Steps

Though the two have been separated for a while, Cannon is not ready to get back into dating. “I’m great. There are a lot of people after me right now. I gotta slow it down. I’m trying to slow it down and stay focused. Family is the first thing and my kids are most important,” he told People magazine, adding: “Obviously the dating thing will come down the line, but right now I’m just slowing down.”

Carey seems to be taking the opposite route, having just announced a Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace.
